Create Groups

Setting up Groups is one of the first steps in preparing your Database for your ministry. Groups contain lists of people organized by membership status, classes, ministry teams, grades, contact lists, services, and more.

Create a Group

  1. Navigate to Groups in the left sidebar. (The label may differ if terminology was customized in Settings Settings-Gear-Icon.png > Terminology.)
  2. Click the + Add Group button at the top.
  3. Enter a Group Name. Orient the name toward a function or task, such as "Directory," "Members," or "Members: Moved Away."

Pro Tip: Keep group names concise for reliable report output. The system allows up to 100 characters, but shorter names are recommended.

  4. Upload an Image to represent the group (optional).
  5. Assign a Group Leader (optional).
  6. Enter a brief Description (optional). For example: "Women's Wednesday Morning Bible Study."
  7. Enter Address information (optional). This address displays in the Group Finder.
  8. Toggle on Group Meet Time and set a day and time (optional). The day and time determine when the group appears for Check-In and in the Group Finder.
  9. Expand Properties and Settings and assign Group Properties using the Properties Search field (optional).
    • What are Group Properties? As you add more groups, you can tag each one with a Property such as age group, gathering type, or event type. You can then filter by property for viewing, reporting, and communication. Properties can also be saved as Group Views for repeated use. Learn more about Group Properties.
  10. Click Save to finish creating the group.

Pro Tip: Plan a group-naming scheme that aligns with your group types and ministry goals. A consistent structure makes it easier to manage and locate groups over time. To get started, see 7 Types of Groups Every Church Should Use.
