Basic form fields cover a range of simple content options that are flexible and can collect a number of different non-payment pieces of information. If you need payment options, explore those fields to add that functionality if you have a linked Giving account.

Available Basic Fields
Short Text
The short text field is meant to collect small amounts of free-form information in a sentence or two. If you are collecting data like names and addresses, then use our Contact Info Fields. The number of characters allowed in the field can be adjusted, but it is recommended to keep this low (default is 200 characters).
Long Text
The long text fields are meant to collect bigger chunks of free-form data like feedback like on a survey. This field also takes up a larger amount of room on the form, so it is best to hide it behind conditional logic to streamline the form interface if it makes sense to do that. The number of characters allowed in this field can be adjusted, but there is a large number of characters allowed by default (default is 1000 characters).
Checkbox(es)
The checkbox(es) field is your multiple-choice tool when creating a form. This is one of the only fields that allows the user to select more than one answer.
There is also a payment version of this field available.
This field can be limited in the number of times that it's selected if you choose to do so by setting a 'Total Quantity' per line item.
Radio Button(s)
Radio buttons allow you to limit the choice for the form registrant to picking only one item out of a couple of choices. The best use case for this field is when applying conditional logic as it is the easiest to make sure the right answer is chosen. There is a range of other use cases for it too but conditional logic is one of the most common.

Dropdown
The dropdown is similar to the radio button in that only one list item can be chosen. It allows you to easily list many items in a simple format. This is common for things like T-shirt size selections or age ranges.

Date
Collect calendar-related items with a simple date selector. This field is really helpful for things like birthdays as a validation data point. If using for age-related validations, make sure to select the settings to mark as a required field if mapping it into a workflow.
Numbers
If looking to capture data that is only number based, used this field to collect that data. You can set a minimum (default is 0) and maximum (default is 20) length to capture the exact information you are looking for.
Letters
If looking to capture data that is only alphanumeric (letter) based, used this field to collect that data. You can set a minimum (default is 0) and maximum (default is 200) length to capture the exact information you are looking for.
File Upload
This is a unique field that lets the form supply a file available for download, and then the applicant can upload a file back into the form that will be available to pull from the form results. This is excellent for trips or other situations where a form needs to be physically filled out and then uploaded for record-keeping.
The field can handle a file up to 40Mb in size. Multiple file types can also be used like: PDF, JPG, PNG, and MP4.
Digital Signature
Similar to other document signing tools, you can collect digital signatures via either the user drawing their signature with something like their trackpad or by choosing from a handwriting font. This field carries compliancy to be legally binding like physical paper being signed.
This field will not work inside of the MinistryOne app as of this time. However, since the form is responsive (content scales to different screen sizes), the app will move the registrant to a mobile browser to complete the form. Once completed, the form will redirect back to the app.
Slider
Allows for a selection from a range of options. This perfect for survey questions (e.g., Rate your experience from 1-10).
